Perforated ceramic balls feature holes drilled along the axis of the sphere's diameter. They possess adequate mechanical strength, chemical stability, and thermal stability while increasing specific surface area and porosity. This enhances material dispersion and throughput while reducing system resistance.

They can be widely used in petroleum, chemical, and natural gas industries as replacement for inert alumina ceramic balls as catalyst support packing. In reactors and reaction furnaces, under identical operating conditions, compared to the original support materials, they provide more uniform gas-liquid distribution, significantly increased flow rates, and markedly reduced system resistance. Additionally, the catalyst does not agglomerate or char, thereby extending its service life.
